EXTD=AMG EXPERT REVIEW: In the late '70s and early '80s, Molly Hatche
EXTD=t attempted to fill the massive void created by the disintegratio
EXTD=n of the Allman Brother's Band and the tragic demise of Lynyrd Sk
EXTD=ynyrd with their own brand of heavy Southern rock. Unfortunately,
EXTD= the Jacksonville sextet could never hope to measure up to their
EXTD=heroes, and the reverent covers of the Allmans' "Dreams I'll Neve
EXTD=r See" and Skynyrd's "Freebird" contained in Double Trouble Live
EXTD=only serve to expose the huge shadow cast over the band by these
EXTD=Southern Rock giants. Still, this comprehensive live set does a f
EXTD=ine job of collecting Molly Hatchet's no fuss rockers ("Whiskey M
EXTD=an," "Bounty Hunter"), extended boogie jams ("Gator Country," "Fa
EXTD=ll of the Peacemakers"), and melodic rock experiments ("Stone in
EXTD=Your Heart," "Satisfied Man"). On another positive note, "Flirtin
EXTD=' With Disaster" and "Beatin' the Odds" are simply fantastic song
EXTD=s, and two pieces of disposable pop featured on the vinyl version
EXTD= were thankfully excluded from the CD version. -- Ed Rivadavia\n
EXTD=\n\nAMAZON.COM CUSTOMER REVIEW\nDeserves a better re-issue, July
EXTD=17, 2007 \nBy  Bill K (upstate New York)\nClose as I can tell, th
EXTD=e two omitted songs for space were chosen because they never did
EXTD=end up on a studio album; they're introduced as being new materia
EXTD=l, but didn't show up when Lightning Strikes Twice came out. Comb
EXTD=ine that with the fact that the Southern Rock era was basically o
EXTD=ver when this came out, and you get a crappy CD reissue. It must
EXTD=still sell well enough for Epic since it's still in print, though
EXTD=. So how about remastering it, putting the missing songs on and g
EXTD=iving us some alternate tracks? One More From The Road has been r
EXTD=eissued this way what, 3 times now on CD? Plus bonus tracks from
EXTD=those sessions on other compilations. Obviously it should sell en
EXTD=ough to make some money with it. --- This isn't too hard to find
EXTD=on vinyl - the missing songs are good, worth the trouble if you'r
EXTD=e a fan. At least they stay true to form, unlike bands who went t
EXTD=o that synth-pop kind of sound blend (Doc Holliday - Modern Medic
EXTD=ine, The Outlaws - Soldiers Of Fortune, or Van-Zant's self-titled
EXTD= Geffen flop). \n\n\nAMAZON.COM CUSTOMER REVIEW\n3 1/2 stars. Dec
EXTD=ent Live CD of a great band, April 13, 2007 \nBy  J. Owens "poolr
EXTD=ider" (TEXAS,USA)\nMolly Hatchet recieved MUCHO grief for releasi
EXTD=ng Freebird on this album. Riff West (bassist) was a guest speak
EXTD=er/consultant at a recording arts institute I attended and said t
EXTD=his album was basically blackballed by the industry and fans alik
EXTD=e; sales were dismal at best.This release was an embarassing mome
EXTD=nt for the good 'ol boys. Aside from that controversial point, th
EXTD=e album is a real southern rocker. Anything with singer Danny Joe
EXTD= Brown is good stuff! An excellent addition to your Hatchet colle
EXTD=ction. \n\n\nAMAZON.COM CUSTOMER REVIEW\nAs good as Sknyrd's One
EXTD=More From The Road!!, March 20, 2007 \nBy Baberufus (West Jordan
EXTD=, UT USA)\nThis is the best live CD from the 1980's--period. Moll
EXTD=y Hatchet's popularity may have been waning by the mid 80's, but
EXTD=they were certainly going down fighting, judging from the intense
EXTD= performances on this CD--amazing! One great song and performance
EXTD= after another. The Freebird cover was awesome--Danny Joe Brown s
EXTD=ang it perfectly! Ronnie would be proud (he was planning on produ
EXTD=cing Molly Hatchet before the Skynyrd plane crash occurred)! The
EXTD=guitarists are on fire throughout! Boogie No More is incredible!
EXTD=\n\nThe sound quality (EQ'ing, specifically) is great on some son
EXTD=gs, OK on others, and lousy on one or two. Apparently it's tough
EXTD=to capture a live CD from analog tapes soundwise, because Skynyrd
EXTD='s One More From The Road was spotty with the EQing as well. But
EXTD=the quality of the performances completely cancels out the weakne
EXTD=sses in the sound, as far as I'm concerned. \n\nThis CD is a MUST
EXTD= HAVE for any guitar-rock enthusiast, and especially for any Sout
EXTD=hern Rock fan! \n\n\nAMAZON.COM CUSTOMER REVIEW\nDouble Mott Live
EXTD=., July 23, 2004 \nBy  Kim Fletcher (Pattaya, Chonburi Thailand)\n
EXTD=\nAhh... Southern Rock. Breathe deeply and you can smell it. Well
EXTD=, not the music, but you can sure fill your nostrils with the hea
EXTD=vy aroma of Jack Daniels. Southern Rock comes in many different p
EXTD=ackages, like Little Feat, very funky; the Outlaws, country influ
EXTD=ence; Blackfoot, who veered heavily towards hard rock; the Allman
EXTD= Brothers, carrying the flag for the blues; and of course Lynyrd
EXTD=Skynyrd, the ultimate Southern rock band. Molly Hatchet are the S
EXTD=tones and rhythm and blues influenced Southern rock band. What al
EXTD=l the bands have in common is gruff vocals, a penchant for guitar
EXTD= solos, and no regard to dress sense as long as it?s blue jeans a
EXTD=nd cowboy boots, topped off by a Stetson hat. Also scant notice i
EXTD=s taken of expanding waistlines and certainly no regard is wasted
EXTD= in keeping a stable line-up. Molly Hatchet are true to form in a
EXTD=ll these elements. \n\nThis album catches Molly Hatchet in fine f
EXTD=orm with the great Danny Joe Brown out in front with his hard liv
EXTD=ing attitude and great diction. He sang and lived the Southern at
EXTD=titude to the maximum, a great focal point, charisma just oozed f
EXTD=rom this man, his vocals completely dominate these recordings, wh
EXTD=ich is no mean feat considering what is behind him. Danny Joe Bro
EXTD=wn can be heard at his absolute best on Hatchet?s tribute to Lyny
EXTD=rd Skynyrd, when they break into a eleven minute version of ?Free
EXTD=bird? in the middle of this set. The song is given an emotional i
EXTD=ntroduction before the band came crashing in. What a band, too. B
EXTD=y now and after six years on the road, when this concert was reco
EXTD=rded on a home coming gig in Dallas, Texas and a sultry night in
EXTD=Jacksonville, Florida, the Hatchet had reduced to a twin lead gui
EXTD=tar attack (there had originally been three) comprising of Dave H
EXTD=lubek, who turns in a fine display of slide playing, and other or
EXTD=iginal Hatchet man Duane Roland. Backing them up are Bruce Crump
EXTD=on drums and the marvelously monikered Riff West on bass. Sitting
EXTD= quietly at the side of the stage was the recently acquired John
EXTD=Galvin on keyboards, but there really isn?t much room in Southern
EXTD= Rock for tinkling of the ivories with all the guitar and vocal a
EXTD=ction going on. \n\nAll the classic Hatchet songs are featured he
EXTD=re in all their glory. (One glance at the song titles will tell y
EXTD=ou what they are about.) The band takes most songs on the gallop
EXTD=and only occasionally swaggers into a canter. Certainly do not bo
EXTD=ther looking for any ballads here; not an album to sit down to. I
EXTD=nstead, turn up the volume to eleven and do some grotesque gurnin
EXTD=g down at the front of the stage. Every song here would go down w
EXTD=ell at the front in Tahitian Queens famous rock ?n? roll Happy ho
EXTD=ur on Friday evening. \n\nMolly Hatchet is now embarking on their
EXTD= 25-year anniversary tour. But, is it really Molly Hatchet you ma
EXTD=y ask? After this long life span all of the original members of t
EXTD=he band have left. Even this line-up, which played together six y
EXTD=ears after the band?s conception, only contained three originals,
EXTD= and none of these guys are presently with the band. Over the yea
EXTD=rs new guys arrived to fill the shoes of those who left and South
EXTD=ern Rock is an attitude, not a line-up. So what the heck, if it s
EXTD=ounds good and feels good, love it. Deep Purple have only got the
EXTD= drummer left from the original quintet, and they make Spinal Tap
EXTD= look like a stable animal. \n\nSo then, why only three Stars? We
EXTD=ll, two songs have been left off from the original release to mak
EXTD=e it possible to fit onto one C.D. When it comes to releases, thi
EXTD=s dog wants it all. Then the transfer over onto C.D. from the tap
EXTD=es is appalling, losing an awful lot of the bottom end. If ever a
EXTD= collection of songs needed the double C.D. re-mastered, made ove
EXTD=r with additional tracks, etc., this is it. Warner Brothers have
EXTD=already done a marvelous job of re-vamping Little Feats live albu
EXTD=m "Waiting for Columbus". Com?on, Epic Records, the Hatchet job?s
EXTD= awaiting. \n\nScratched by Mott the Dog \nRe-assembled by Ella C

EXTD=aken off for POOR sound quality, June 19, 2002 \nBy  BigSteve331
EXTD=(Norristown, PA USA)\nThis is an excellent performance by an exce
EXTD=llent band. However, whoever mixed this cd should be shot!! The q
EXTD=uality is very muddy. You can hardly hear the keyboards. You can'
EXTD=t hear them at all at times. There are also some painfully obviou
EXTD=s rhythm guitar overdubs. There is little or no stereo separation
EXTD= on the 2 guitar players. I can't listen to this cd. It just soun
EXTD=ds too bad. And it's a real shame, because the band sounded great
EXTD= that night. Somebody did them real wrong. Try to find it used. \n
