EXTD=Weaver Of Visions: The Kate Wolf Anthology - Disc 1 of 2\n2000 Rh
EXTD=ino Entertainment Company\n\nOriginally Released April 4, 2000\n\n
EXTD=AMG EXPERT REVIEW: Rhino's Weaver of Visions: The Kate Wolf Antho
EXTD=logy features a slightly different track listing than their 1986
EXTD=collection of Wolf's work, Gold in California, and adds a few liv
EXTD=e and previously unreleased songs. Like the earlier set, Weaver o
EXTD=f Visions is a double-disc package that provides a good overview
EXTD=of her quiet confessional style, particularly with songs like "Ba
EXTD=ck Roads," "The Lilac & the Apple," "Early Morning Melody," and "
EXTD=Here in California." But live versions of "Cornflower Blue," "Giv
EXTD=e Yourself to Love," "Eyes of a Painter," and the previously unre
EXTD=leased songs "Shadow of a Life" and "Minstrel," add another dimen
EXTD=sion to this updated retrospective. -- Heather Phares\n\nAmazon.
EXTD=com Editorial Review\nAhead of her time and somehow beyond time,
EXTD=Northern California singer-songwriter Kate Wolf now has a collect
EXTD=ion to represent all her craft, wisdom, and radiance. Produced an
EXTD=d compiled by Wolf's son Max, the 35 songs on Weaver of Visions i
EXTD=nclude every track from the previous anthology, Gold in Californi
EXTD=a (less only "Full Time Woman" and the antinuke ballad "The Sun I
EXTD=s Burning"), and adds 10 live performances and two previously una
EXTD=vailable songs. The selection is impeccable, focusing on what Wol
EXTD=f's guitarist Nina Gerber has called "Kateness": an intimacy born
EXTD= of hard times, a communion forged in love's fire, a delicate sou
EXTD=lfulness that few of her acoustic-oriented peers--Emmylou Harris
EXTD=and Lucinda Williams come to mind--have captured. Even if you own
EXTD= every Wolf album, Weaver of Visions will be a revelation--from t
EXTD=he sparkling remastering to the elegant photographs to the intell
EXTD=igent, 42-page liner notes to the songs and voice that will tear
EXTD=out your heart, then mend and renew it once again. --Roy Kasten \n

EXTD=Elegantly, April 7, 2007 \nBy  David Rains (Houston, TX)\nI am 64
EXTD= and have been listening to various types of music for 50 years b
EXTD=ut only recently discovered Kate Wolf. She immediately became my
EXTD=favorite singer/songwriter. It seems that her music is the music
EXTD=I have always been looking for but had never found. I agree with
EXTD=another reviewer who noted that one can listen to Kate almost con
EXTD=tinually without tiring of her. I was very saddened to learn of h
EXTD=er untimely passing just when she was reaching her pinnacle. \n\n
EXTD=I have now acquired almost all of Kate's recordings and this albu
EXTD=m contains most of her best songs but a few are missing like "Lov
EXTD=e Still Remains" and "Great Love of my Life". \n\nAll Kate Wolf f
EXTD=ans should watch the "Evening in Austin" video to see the refined
EXTD= professional she had become just a few months before she came do
EXTD=wn with leukemia. \n\n\nAMAZON.COM CUSTOMER REVIEW\nGreat cut., M

EXTD=As someone who attended Kate's funeral years ago, I remember walk
EXTD=ing into the service in Marin with "Give yourself to love" playin
EXTD=g over the PA system. This is a great album that defined a genera

EXTD=ple. \n\n\nAMAZON.COM CUSTOMER REVIEW\nThe Enduring Mystery of Ka
EXTD=te Wolf, July 3, 2006 \nBy  Michael Everett (Santa Monica)\nI fir
EXTD=st discovered Kate Wolf's music twenty years ago while traveling
EXTD=the Mendocino Coast. It's not really about Northern California, b
EXTD=ut like a fine wine it has a certain regional stamp to it which a
EXTD=dds to its quality. In time I bought all of her CD's and her musi
EXTD=c, which gradually intertwined and merged with my life until it s
EXTD=eemed as if the songs were a personal gift from her to me, which
EXTD=I eventually learned was an illusion held in common by just about
EXTD= all of her fans. And in all those years, whenever I brought up t
EXTD=he subject of Kate Wolf with my friends in Southern California, I
EXTD= invariably got a blank stare in return, followed by the question
EXTD=, "Who's Kate Wolf?" \n\nThe mystery of Kate Wolf is why her enor
EXTD=mous popularity is still mainly confined to Northern California,
EXTD=why such a great artist has only produced twelve reviews on this
EXTD=page, and why this quintessential Kate Wolf album isn't even amon
EXTD=g Amazon's top ten thousand selling CD's. \n\nI don't know how ma
EXTD=ny (if any)other musicians have an annual music festival dedicate
EXTD=d to their memory, but Kate Wolf does and last week up near the R
EXTD=edwoods, the 11th annual such festival took place. The music was
EXTD=bluegrass, folk, and singer/songwriters with only an occasional K
EXTD=ate Wolf number thrown in, but her spirit was invoked from the st
EXTD=age more than once, and the festival closed out with the singing
EXTD=of one of Kate's signature songs, "Give Yourself to Love." The au
EXTD=dience stood and sang along just as if it were a national anthem
EXTD=(and maybe it should be.) \n\nSo if this is your genre, if Kate's
EXTD= advice to "Give Yourself to Love" makes sense to you, or if her
EXTD=gentle warning that "We've Only Got These Times We're Living In"
EXTD=rings true, give her a listen, and you too can become part of Cal
EXTD=ifornia's best kept secret. \n\n\nAMAZON.COM CUSTOMER REVIEW\nHer
EXTD=e in California..., May 3, 2004 \nBy  Ruminator (The Fencepost)\n
EXTD=Nobody has ever captured the spirit of the rural West in music be
EXTD=tter than Kate Wolf. This generous set will satisfy almost anybod
EXTD=y but those who have to have it all; for those who are just new t
EXTD=o this astist, this is the best place to start - all killer, no f
EXTD=iller. Some tracks are immediately addictive, while others reveal
EXTD= their pleasures more gradually. \nKate's songs are a celebration
EXTD= of passion, humanity, nature, healing, friendship, love, and muc
EXTD=h more. Her partners supported her with expert skills and arrangm
EXTD=ents that explored all the roots of American music, yet her style
EXTD=, concept, and delivery were completely her own. If Weaver of Vis
EXTD=ions is your first introduction to Kate, it may be a revelation.

EXTD=ithout Kate, February 5, 2004 \nBy Tony Thomas (North Miami, FL
EXTD=USA)\nI feel so bad that I lived in San Fransisco and Oakland and
EXTD= travelled up and down California and the West Coast in the late
EXTD=1970s and early 1980s when Kate was doing her best work and only
EXTD=saw her sing once. When I hear something like Sweet love on this
EXTD=CD, I wonder why I am not always listening to Kate. There is some
EXTD=thing to her voice that gets through to me, something pure. Now t
EXTD=hat I sing and play guitar and banjo and fiddle, I tend to listen
EXTD= to any singer or player that I hear trying to scope them out lea
EXTD=rn something, evaluate, figure out how to put what they do into m
EXTD=y performance. Even though Kate plays the kind of music I have al
EXTD=ways wanted to play, I just sit there and listen to the song and
EXTD=receive its thoughts in my heart and mind. Part of Kate's magic i
EXTD=s the superb arrangements and backup that gets from the musical g
EXTD=enius Nina Gerber her main accompaniest. Nina is now out there so
EXTD=lo alot. If you like guitar and this kind music check out Nina to
EXTD=o.\nOh Kate, why didn't we realize how much of a golden treasure
EXTD=you were when you were among us. In her memory think of a perform
EXTD=er you might miss like we all miss Kate--well that isnt fair beca
EXTD=use thats a big ideal to measure up to--how about someone you wou
EXTD=ld miss half or a quarter as much as I miss Kate, and make sure y
EXTD=ou go see them while you can, and maybe bring a friend, bring two

EXTD=\nBy brad lonard (Sydney, Australia)\nIt's hard to describe in w
EXTD=ords just how perfect Kate Wolf is -- the voice, the songs ... Th
EXTD=en again, I don't really have to: this excellent two disc compila
EXTD=tion does it all for me, skimming the cream off her recordings. F
EXTD=ittingly enough, it includes a good heaping serve of live tracks,
EXTD= because Wolf in concert was a very special experience. If the co
EXTD=mpilers managed to miss a couple of my own favourites, well, that
EXTD='s simply a tribute to the consistent quality and depth of her so
EXTD=ngs. Listeners new are guaranteed to fall in love with Kate Wolf;
EXTD= listeners old will welcome a fine, fine compilation. \n\n\nAMAZO

EXTD=By Patrick Zampetti (RICHMOND, VA United States)\nWithin about 3
EXTD= seconds of a Kate Wolf song, your life changes a little. I mean,
EXTD= I don't even like the country bluegrass foot stompin stuff but w
EXTD=hen she sings it gets important and you want to listen. The balla
EXTD=ds are a form of heart surgery with the patient always surviving
EXTD=and leading a better life as a result. My wife and I have been fa

EXTD=ome of the best singer-songwriter contemporary folk I've ever hea
EXTD=rd. I've been listening to this set for several months now, and a
EXTD=m not even remotely tired of it. Kate Wolf's voice and songwritin
EXTD=g will touch your heart..."Give Yourself to Love" brings tears to
EXTD= my eyes. I discover the music of dozens of different folk artist
EXTD=s every year, but once in a rare while I will hear the work of a
EXTD=musician and think, "this is what I've been looking for, without
EXTD=even knowing it"...this is how I now feel about Kate Wolf. \n\n\n
EXTD=AMAZON.COM CUSTOMER REVIEW\nMUSIC FROM DEEP IN THE HEART AND SOUL
EXTD=, August 16, 2000 \nBy  Michael D. Zungolo (Philadelphia, PA USA)
EXTD=\nKate Wolf was one of the finest songwriters of her generation,
EXTD=and sang in a lovely rough-hewn country voice reminiscent of Sara
EXTD= Carter. Every recording she made in her career had beauty in it,
EXTD= and this loving compilation by Kate's son Max collects the best
EXTD=of them. ACROSS THE GREAT DIVIDE, GIVE YOURSELF TO LOVE, CORNFLOW
EXTD=ER BLUE and TELLURIDE are, in my estimation, the best of them, bu
EXTD=t there isn't a song here that isn't moving in one way or another
EXTD=. It's people like Kate Wolf, an incandescent spirit who left thi
EXTD=s earth long, long, long before their time, that make one want to
EXTD= belive in a place called Heaven. \n\n\nAMAZON.COM CUSTOMER REVIE

EXTD=lso adds 10 live performances and two previously unheard studio o
EXTD=uttakes.\nThe live performances, including an excellent version o
EXTD=f her comparatively rare song "Give Yourself to Love," are unifor
EXTD=mly terrific, up to the quality of those found on the other posth
EXTD=umous Kate Wolf live albums. It's hard to get away from the feeli
EXTD=ng that the collection could have included some of the great stud
EXTD=io recordings not featured on the earlier compilation, but this s
EXTD=tuff is so good that this seems like a minor quibble.
