EXTD= DiChario\n\nAMG EXPERT REVIEW: After spending the better half of
EXTD= the '70s as an ersatz prog band given to Neal Schon's noodling,
EXTD=never-ending solos, low record sales, and muddling about on the m
EXTD=arginal rock circuit, the members of Journey certainly welcomed t
EXTD=he phenomenal chart success and arena tours that came their way i
EXTD=n the late '70s. With Captured, a live double-disc from 1980, the
EXTD= newly crowned kings of AOR show off like a formerly fat girl at
EXTD=prom. "Separate Ways" and "Faithfully" were still a few years awa
EXTD=y, but the band had plenty of hits by this time and they blast th
EXTD=rough them all, including a blistering version of "Any Way You Wa
EXTD=nt It." The band are in rare form and vocalist Steve Perry uses C
EXTD=aptured as his coming out, while the thousands of diehards sweati
EXTD=ng in the blistering sun give the album an underlying hum of ener
EXTD=gy that tops even Perry's.  -- Steve Kurutz\n\nAMAZON.COM CUSTOME
EXTD=R REVIEW\nClassic Journey, July 2, 2006\nReviewer: Michael W. Cum
EXTD=mins "audiophile in arizona" (USA)\nSure, Steve Perry is the sing
EXTD=er. Sure its a live album and the production on it is good except
EXTD= for one thing. The entire album is a jumble of songs recorded at
EXTD= different locations, so it isn't the World Wide Live/Frampton Co
EXTD=mes Alive disc for Journey fans. This is the one thing that bothe
EXTD=red me, even though I think it is a great album, I don't like a f
EXTD=ade in/out for each song. Keep in mind, this album is OLD - over
EXTD=25 years old. It was also done at the beginning of the arena rock
EXTD= era. They were still figuring out what to do and how to do it. \n
EXTD=\nJourney - the music, song choices, the whole journey sound - in
EXTD= fact, this album is very good. It is hard to find anything wrong
EXTD= with it, I've never been up on stage in front of thousands of fa
EXTD=ns and had to perform. Journey is one of those bands that helped
EXTD=make the 80s memorable, and this album is worth getting for the f
EXTD=ollowing reasons - overall, it is very good, the band is (still)
EXTD=popular, and the songs are ones you remember from the era if you
EXTD=grew up in it, and if you grew up later, you will hear a lot of t
EXTD=he songs that others talk about so fondly (some of which get no a
EXTD=irplay any longer, even on classic rock stations). \n\n\n\nAMAZON
EXTD=.COM CUSTOMER REVIEW\n"You See This Microphone Over Here....., Au
EXTD=gust 7, 2006\nReviewer: Jeffrey G. Stevenson "Drummer J" (F.W.B.,
EXTD=FL)\n\n.....You see this one right over here?....Do you know what
EXTD= that means?" Yes, I would guess that anybody at that particular
EXTD=show who didn't know what that meant, quickly found out that they
EXTD= were involved in something special---- One of the most inspired,
EXTD= beloved live albums to date! And although this album was recorde
EXTD=d over the span of many months on their world tour, one could eas
EXTD=ily be "fooled" into thinking this was taken from a single show.
EXTD=This live release simply has an exceptional flow to the varied ma
EXTD=terial heard here....almost as if the people who edited this toge
EXTD=ther, were aiming for that effect. The band must have been in gre
EXTD=at 'form' for the entire Tour....great musicianship, great crowd
EXTD=interaction, and one heck of a great setlist. I don't know of man
EXTD=y other groups besides Journey that can alternate between straigh
EXTD=t-on 'rockers' and heart-wrenching 'ballads', and keep an audienc
EXTD=e enthralled for the entire show. And the Solos on this album are
EXTD= absolutely 'Killer'... Mr. Schon certainly gets his fair share o
EXTD=f the audiences' attention....even the "not too common" bass solo
EXTD=/spanking in "La Do Da" brings Mr. Valory kudos from the crowd. B
EXTD=ut for me, being a drummer, its Mr. Smith that caught my attentio
EXTD=n in a BIG way with his wonderfully constructed drum solo. Steve
EXTD=Smith has become my single favorite drummer over the years and I
EXTD=literally NEVER tire of hearing his facility and mastery on the d
EXTD=rumkit( if you've only heard Steve with Journey, you MUST do your
EXTD=self a favor and explore some of his "other-worldly" work with Je
EXTD=an-Luc Ponty, Vital Information , and Vital Tech Tones....absolut
EXTD=ely amazing playing by all involved!). But I would venture to say
EXTD= that Mr. Perry played the biggest role in keeping these audience
EXTD=s "on their toes" during the recording sessions for "Captured"---
EXTD=- Steve Perry is truly one of the great vocalist of Pop-Rock musi
EXTD=c and should certainly go down in music's history as so. \n\nAs f
EXTD=or the individual songs here on "Captured", there is a nice mix f
EXTD=rom the bands past releases...though you won't hear anything from
EXTD= the bands "progressive" years here. I like nearly everything Jou
EXTD=rney has put out, but, through no fault of the band, I have been
EXTD='over-exposed' to some of the songs here...thanks to our local "s
EXTD=mall-Town" AOR radio station. So with that said, I do find myself
EXTD= skipping through a handfull of tunes...most notably: "Lights", "
EXTD=AnyWay You Want It", "Wheel in the Sky", and "Lovin',Touchin',Squ
EXTD=eezin'". Don't get me wrong, I love those songs, but its the song
EXTD=s I hadn't been exposed to that keeps me coming back to this albu
EXTD=m---- "Dixie Highway", "Walks Like a Lady", "Line of Fire", "Too
EXTD=Late", "La Do Da" and, possibly my favorite (slow) Journey tune,
EXTD="Stay Awhile". By far, this is my preferred version of this great
EXTD= band----shortly after this recording Greg Rollie would move on,
EXTD=and Journey would hit 'SuperStar' status with their next album ("
EXTD=Escape")...not to be 'De-throned' till many years later. This alb
EXTD=um is truly one of the most exciting live albums ever recorded...
EXTD=and Journey is truly one of the best, universally liked bands in
EXTD=the history of R-n-R---- #3 of my all-time favorite live albums..

EXTD=y, With Brass Knuckles?, May 31, 2005\nReviewer: P. M. White "sur
EXTD=fzilla" (El Aay)\nThese guys always put such a glossy sheen on th
EXTD=ings. And I'm not just talking about their sound--the band pic on
EXTD= the back of the "Evolution" LP is clear and convincing evidence
EXTD=these fellas kept lipstick and curlers in the dressing room. Howe
EXTD=ver, on "Captured", they pull the barrettes out of the short and
EXTD=curlies, and the result is almost bona fide rock and roll. Tempos
EXTD= are speeded up, jams break out all over the place--"live" happen
EXTD=s. If only Neil Schon's Stratocaster and Greg Rolie's Hammond B-3
EXTD= organ weren't so politely muffled into the mix--the result is ki
EXTD=nda like the Incredible Hulk punching his way through a room full
EXTD= of mattresses. Instead, the emphasis is given to Steve Perry's v
EXTD=ocals. The band can rock with the big boys, and they're fronted b
EXTD=y a singer who sounds better than most girls.\n\n\nAMAZON.COM CUS
EXTD=TOMER REVIEW\nI was there!, May 11, 2004\nReviewer: Robert Hardin
EXTD=g (Virginia)\nListening to this collection brings back a flood of
EXTD= memories of my high school days -- carefree, high-energy passion
EXTD= of the early 1980s. This album is special to me for an additiona
EXTD=l reason, since I was at one of the concerts where Journey was re
EXTD=cording this album. The cut "Dixie Highway" was recorded at Freed
EXTD=om Hall in Louisville, Kentucky, a concert I attended. Listen to
EXTD=the crowd's wild reaction when Steve Perry says "..the Dixie High

EXTD=portant roads in Louisville is called "Dixie Highway."\n\n\nAMAZO
EXTD=N.COM CUSTOMER REVIEW\nAmazing energy and songs--GREAT live album
EXTD=!, October 2, 2002\nReviewer: Brad (CT)\nThis is a classic live a
EXTD=lbum by my all-time favorite rock band. It includes many of the b
EXTD=and's classics from their three successive classic rock albums "I
EXTD=nfinity" (1978), "Evolution" (1979), and "Departure" (1980). Need
EXTD=less to say for any true Journey fan, these songs sound great liv
EXTD=e.\nMany of these performances go far beyond the studio versions.
EXTD= Take the jam that comes out of "Walks Like A Lady"--a 3-minute s
EXTD=ong that turns into 7 minutes live. Songs like "Line Of Fire", "F
EXTD=eeling That Way", "Anytime", and "Wheel In The Sky" absolutely ro
EXTD=ck. The inclusion of the live track "Dixie Highway" and the new (
EXTD=at the time of release) studio track "The Party's Over (Hopelessl
EXTD=y In Love) are also fantastic.\n\nThis is what a live album shoul
EXTD=d be. The crowd is very prevalent throughout the album, and the i
EXTD=nteraction between the band and the crowd is left unedited in man
EXTD=y spots. Clearly, this band was as special live as they were on t
EXTD=heir studio albums. (They still are, by the way, as I just saw th
EXTD=e current lineup at "The Big E" in Massachusetts on September 29t
EXTD=h--their last show of this year's tour.) This is a fantastic live
EXTD= album of some of the best classic rock of a generation. Highly r
EXTD=ecommended.\n\n\nAMAZON.COM CUSTOMER REVIEW\nJourney Live, March
EXTD=29, 2001\nReviewer: Thomas Magnum (NJ, USA)\nJourney sold million
EXTD=s of records in the 70's, but most of their albums were uneven, w
EXTD=ith some really good songs offset by some bad ones. Despite some
EXTD=their studio maladies, the band's real prowess was in their live
EXTD=shows. Concerts allowed them to play their best songs and show of
EXTD=f Steve Perry's incredible voice and Neal Schoen's impressive gui
EXTD=tar playing. Captured is an excellent live album and the band liv
EXTD=es up to expectations. Songs like "Any Way You Want It", "Wheel I
EXTD=n The Sky", "Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin'", "Majestic" and "Lights
EXTD=" take on additional power and sound and lesser known studio trac
EXTD=ks like "La Do Da", "Line Of Fire" and "Just The Same Way" far ou
EXTD=tshine their studio versions. The album closes out with a bonus s
EXTD=tudio track that ranks as one of the band's best, "Party's Over (
EXTD=Hopelessly In Love)". If you are casual Journey fan, then Capture
EXTD=d is perfect for you.\n\n\nAMAZON.COM CUSTOMER REVIEW\nDid Someon
EXTD=e Say "Live"?, August 13, 1999\nReviewer: A music fan\nThis is a
EXTD=blueprint for a bad stadium rock album. Journey has released far
EXTD=superior studio albums but in the live setting, they spend more e
EXTD=nergy trying to inject life into their audience rather than into
EXTD=their music. One gets the feeling that they've played these songs
EXTD= hundreds of times. Unfortunately, many other bands have copied t
EXTD=his format with equally bad results. Stick with their studio albu
