EXTD=ollow-up album to The Late Late Show (her big hit) is even better
EXTD= and still stands as one of the highpoints of her career. Backed
EXTD=on some selections by trumpeter Harry "Sweets" Edison and either
EXTD=a rhythm section or an orchestra, Staton (who turned 26 around th
EXTD=is time) is heard throughout in peak form. She really tears into
EXTD="Let Me off Uptown," puts plenty of feeling into "When Sunny Gets
EXTD= Blue" and swings hard on "Cherokee." Other highlights include "T

EXTD=OMER REVIEW\nDAKOTA AT HER NEAR-BEST, October 22, 2006\nReviewer:
EXTD= Dominick T. Armentano (Vero Beach, Florida USA)\n\nThis CD album
EXTD= is very early Dakota (February 1958) and her singing and the arr
EXTD=angements are spectacular. "Let Me Off Uptown" and "Cherokee" are
EXTD= wildly delightful while Dakota's swinging and stylish "Say It Is
EXTD=n't So, Joe" is the sleeper hit of the recording sessions. There
EXTD=are also 4 bonus tracks including the little known but haunting "
EXTD=Invitation" (which I remember from a long-lost Percy Faith album
EXTD=called "Music For Her.") The only slight disappointment is a prev
EXTD=iously unissued track "Ill Remember April" which has a minor Dako
EXTD=ta bobble and sounds like a first or second warm-up run-through.
EXTD=But, hey, ANYTHING from Dakota's early years is appreciated and w
EXTD=e just hope that the Capitol vault caretakers will remaster and r
EXTD=elease everything from the late 50's and early 60's.
