EXTD=Originally Released January 24, 2006\n\nAMG EXPERT REVIEW: Lisa L
EXTD=oeb had only one big hit and it was with her first single "Stay (
EXTD=I Missed You)" -- a tune that took her from obscurity to minor ce
EXTD=lebrity when it was included on the soundtrack of Reality Bites.
EXTD=Although she never had another smash hit, "Stay" was hardly the e
EXTD=nd of her career: she continued to release records every few year
EXTD=s, racking up five additional chartings singles that usually appe
EXTD=ared in the lower reaches of Billboard's Hot 100, and a bit highe
EXTD=r on their Adult Top 40 charts: 1995's "Do You Sleep?," 1996's "W
EXTD=aiting for Wednesday," 1997's "I Do," 1998's "Let's Forget About
EXTD=It," and 2002's "Underdog." All six of those charting singles, al

EXTD=ike "How," which wound up on both the Twister soundtrack, where i
EXTD=t was originally intended, and on Jack Frost the Michael Keaton c

EXTD=e Very Best of Lisa Loeb, which also includes the brand new "Sing
EXTD=le Me Out," the theme song from her '06 reality show #1 Single. W
EXTD=hile Loeb never strayed very far from the sweet, gentle template
EXTD=she laid down with "Stay (I Missed You)," she always was friendly
EXTD=, melodic, and rather ingratiating. These qualities are better he
EXTD=ard on The Very Best of Lisa Loeb than on her proper albums, whic
EXTD=h can tend to be a little samey and sugary. Those tendencies aren
EXTD='t completely absent here, but distilled to her best songs, Loeb
EXTD=is an endearing folk-pop singer/songwriter, as this enjoyable col
EXTD=lection proves. -- Stephen Thomas Erlewine\n\nAmazon.com Product
EXTD=Description\nA dozen years after exploding onto the scene with "S
EXTD=tay (I Missed You)" from the Gen-X movie classic Reality Bites, L
EXTD=isa Loeb--one of the most recognizable musical artists of the las
EXTD=t decade--premieres not only her first "best of" collection but h
EXTD=er own unscripted TV series. With E! Entertainment Television's #
EXTD=1 Single debuting in January, The Very Best of Lisa Loeb was rele
EXTD=ased January 24, 2006. Heard on both is "Single Me Out," the them
EXTD=e song to the TV series.\n\nFeaturing 18 selections, The Very Bes
EXTD=t of Lisa Loeb includes all of her hits from five albums from 199
EXTD=5 to 2004, from the orchestral "Furious Rose" to the rocking "Foo
EXTD=ls Like Me" to the stripped-down acoustic "Sandalwood," as well a
EXTD=s the most memorable tracks from her career to date. The literary
EXTD= Loeb also penned the album's liner notes.\n\nAfter growing up in
EXTD= Dallas, this modern-day Mary Tyler Moore enrolled at Brown Unive
EXTD=rsity and formed a duo with her roommate. After graduating, she m
EXTD=oved to New York and began playing the New York City club circuit
EXTD= to sell-out crowds all over downtown, backed by her group Nine S
EXTD=tories. Friend/fan Ethan Hawke brought her to the attention of Be
EXTD=n Stiller, who was starring in and directing Reality Bites. He ad
EXTD=ded "Stay (I Missed You)" to the soundtrack and the single hit #1
EXTD=. Loeb became the first unsigned artist to ever reach the top spo
EXTD=t. "Stay (I Missed You)" was certified gold and earned Loeb a Gra
EXTD=mmy nomination for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group, the U.
EXTD=K.'s prestigious Brit Award for Best International Newcomer, and
EXTD=a record deal with Geffen.\n\nHer debut album, 1995's Tails, went
EXTD= gold and Top 30 and spun off the Top 20 hit "Do You Sleep?," "Wa
EXTD=iting For Wednesday," "Taffy" and "Sandalwood." "Stay (I Missed Y
EXTD=ou)" was also reprised. Known for her sexy-and-smart girl-next-do
EXTD=or persona, accented by her trademark cat-eyed glasses, Loeb crea
EXTD=ted music that touched a new generation. She toured America, open
EXTD=ed for Lyle Lovett and appeared at the first-ever Lilith Fair, a
EXTD=celebration of female artists featuring Sarah McLachlan, Patti Sm
EXTD=ith, Aimee Mann, Emmylou Harris, Tori Amos and others.\n\n1997's
EXTD=Grammy-nominated Firecracker yielded the Top 20 "I Do," "Truthful
EXTD=ly," "Let's Forget About It," "Falling In Love" and "How," which
EXTD=debuted on the soundtrack to the summer blockbuster Twister. That
EXTD= year she guested on the Counting Crows' European tour and also s
EXTD=tarred at the second Lilith Fair.\n\nFrom 2002's A&M album Cake a
EXTD=nd Pie, The Very Best of Lisa Loeb culls "Bring Me Up" and "Under
EXTD=dog." That same year a revamped indie version of the album, title
EXTD=d Hello Lisa, showcased "What Am I Supposed to Say." 2004's Round
EXTD=er disc The Way It Really Is included "Fools Like Me."\n\nToday,
EXTD=with a "best of" collection, starring in #1 Single (about looking
EXTD= for love in the 21st century), touring, and working on a new alb
EXTD=um, Lisa Loeb proves she is here to stay. \n\nAMAZON.COM CUSTOMER
EXTD= REVIEW\nMissing A Single..., May 18, 2006\nReviewer: Kyle (Allen
EXTD=town, PA) \nAll of Lisa Loeb's well known songs and singles are o
EXTD=n this disc, except for "Play All Day" which was a track from the
EXTD= Rugrats Movie Soundtrack. Without this track on this disc, I fee
EXTD=l hesistant about buying it. Although I am only a lukewarm Loeb

EXTD=er...Lisa's albums are inconsistent, so a "best of" package makes
EXTD= perfect sense. A good collection, but even so the music set does
EXTD=n't rise beyond 3 stars.\n\nAMAZON.COM CUSTOMER REVIEW\nThe Very
EXTD=Best??? You Betcha!!!, March 13, 2006\nReviewer: Dave Young (Los
EXTD=Angeles, CA United States)\nThat's right you freaky freaks! This
EXTD=CD encompasses the finest creative output by Lisa "Ear" Loeb. It'
EXTD=s kewl because it's got that one song from her first album, and t
EXTD=hen it's got another good song from another album, but you only h
EXTD=ave to buy one CD! And you don't get all the shplange from the co
EXTD=mplete albums that you don't want to hear. She looks nice and har
EXTD=mless, but I still am kind of afraid that she would smack me if I
EXTD= didn't buy her CDs, so you better believe I buy 'em!!! Peace out

EXTD=m "Cake and Pie?" What was she thinking?, February 14, 2006\nRevi
EXTD=ewer: Invisiboy2001 "invisiboy2001" (Chicago, IL United States)\n
EXTD=Hands down, Lisa Loebs's best album (read: her only truly GREAT C
EXTD=D) is "Cake and Pie," so it would stand to reason that a fair sha
EXTD=re of the songs on a "best of" CD would be taken from that album.
EXTD= However, nearly HALF the songs on this hits CD are from Loeb's s
EXTD=econd album, the good (but nothing special) "Firecracker." \n\nWh
EXTD=o chose these songs? I mean, Loeb's three hits are included (a no
EXTD=-brainer), but much of the CD feels like arbitrary filler. "Let's
EXTD= Forget About It" and "Taffy" are highly forgettable, third-rate
EXTD=coffee-house pop (which is why they both flopped after being rele
EXTD=ased as singles), while other songs like "Sandalwood" are boring
EXTD=tripe. \n\nWhere are the soaring guitars of "You Don't Know Me" a
EXTD=nd possibly Loeb's best song ever, "Someone You Should Know?" And
EXTD= at least one song from Loeb's stellar "Catch The Moon" CD would
EXTD=have been a great way to finish this "best of" collection! But in
EXTD=stead fans get what is essentially Loeb's first two CDs' highligh
EXTD=ts with a few songs from other albums added in to make it a "best
EXTD= of" CD. \n\nI am a huge Lisa Loeb fan, but this CD feels like it
EXTD= was just thrown together. I am very disappointed and, frankly, d
EXTD=isgusted. Fans are better off with the regular albums and skippin
EXTD=g this craptastic "best of" CD.\n\nAMAZON.COM CUSTOMER REVIEW\nI
EXTD=don't understand why they do that!, January 30, 2006\nReviewer: G
EXTD=erardo Gonzalez V "Music fanatic from Costa Rica" (San Jose Costa
EXTD= Rica) \nI don't believe they left Someone You Should Know out of
EXTD= this collection!! That would have made this CD really complete!!
EXTD= I don't know why music companies always leave some relevant trac
EXTD=ks out. Probably they think people will buy both records, but I d
EXTD=on't think that's the case. Anyhow, I think this is a good select
EXTD=ion, but not all of her best songs are here.\n\nHalf.com Details

EXTD=to modest fame with her surprise hit, "Stay (I Missed You)," whic
EXTD=h was featured in the 1994 film REALITY BITES, New York City-base
EXTD=d singer/songwriter Lisa Loeb charmed audiences with her bookish,
EXTD= bespectacled persona and sugary-sweet alt-pop tunes. This 2006 c
EXTD=ollection draws largely on cuts from Loeb's first two Geffen albu
EXTD=ms ('95's TAILS and '97's FIRECRACKER), including the delicate af
EXTD=orementioned song and the energetic "I Do." The disc also surveys
EXTD= her later work for smaller labels and includes the previously un
EXTD=released "Single Me Out," a fast-paced, guitar-driven track that
EXTD=served as the theme song to her own reality-TV show. True to its
EXTD=title, THE VERY BEST OF LISA LOEB is all that fans and curious li
EXTD=steners could ask for in a single-disc retrospective.
