EXTD=\nAMG EXPERT REVIEW: Originally issued on Dolton, this instrument
EXTD=al classic was reissued briefly in 1990 on CD by EMI. The Venture
EXTD=s have a blast with unique covers of secular Christmas songs: eac
EXTD=h instrumental borrows riffs from popular mid-'60s hits, incorpor
EXTD=ating them into their twangy guitar yule melodies. "Sleigh Ride"
EXTD=uses The Ventures' own hit, "Walk, Don't Run," while other select
EXTD=ions borrow from hits of other artists. It's a gas to hear "Frost
EXTD=y the Snowman" set to The Champs' "Tequila." -- Dennis MacDonald\n
EXTD=\nAmazon.com Editorial Review\nAh, this is jingle bell rock the w
EXTD=ay it's supposed to be, with driving guitars, splashy drums, and
EXTD=full stereo separation. The Ventures' Christmas Album just might
EXTD=be the best rock & roll holiday record ever made. The instrumenta
EXTD=l twang kings deliver pretty much what you'd expect--note-for-not
EXTD=e renditions of standards, all dressed up with ubiquitous sleigh
EXTD=bells as well as the requisite reverb. What really makes this dis
EXTD=c a blast though is the way the quartet weaves 1960s pop signatur
EXTD=es into every tune; warping "Woolly Bully" into "Santa Claus Is C
EXTD=oming to Town," "I Feel Fine" into "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindee
EXTD=r," and so on. Spin this and let your party guests have fun guess
EXTD=ing which hit single will morph into a Christmas classic. --Micha

EXTD= November 21, 2004\nReviewer: Danno (NY, NY)\nThis is one of the
EXTD=few must-own Christmas discs of the rock era. The Ventures (proba
EXTD=bly the most creative of all the 1960s instrumental bands) took a
EXTD= handful of Xmas chestnuts and blended them with mid-1960s riffs
EXTD=and licks. The result, while probably dreamed up by an executive
EXTD=to squeeze some cash from those 60s teenyboppers, definitely stan
EXTD=ds the test of time a lot better than most subsequent Xmas albums
EXTD= by other artists. Why? No matter what material the Ventures reco
EXTD=rded in the 1960s, they approached the task with fuzzed out Mosri
EXTD=te guitars, nimble drumming, generous reverb, and no-nonsense bar
EXTD=e-knuckled gusto. The result is one of the few holiday CDs you mi
EXTD=ght play once the holidays are over. I can't recommend this one e
EXTD=nough. "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" and "Blue Christmas" are
EXTD=the standouts.\n\nAMAZON.COM CUSTOMER REVIEW\nA Christmas Classic
EXTD=, December 21, 2001\nReviewer: Mike Vegas King (Taunton, MA Unite
EXTD=d States)\nThe Ventures "Christmas Album" is my favorite holiday-
EXTD=themed instrumental album of all time. It sounds as fresh today a
EXTD=s it did when it was first released. The opening song starts with
EXTD= the intro to their biggest hit, "Walk, Don't Run" but soon segue
EXTD=s into "Sleigh Ride." Several other songs begin with a familiar o
EXTD=pening riff to a sixties hit song but then change into a Christma
EXTD=s classic. My favorite example of that is when "Eight Days A Week
EXTD=" turns into "Rudolph, The Red-Nosed Reindeer." The album also co
EXTD=ntains an original Ventures instrumental, the humorous "Scrooge."
EXTD= "Snow Flakes" is really the traditional tune "Greensleeves." The
EXTD= Ventures are the greatest instrumental band in the world, and th
EXTD=eir Christmas album makes the perfect stocking stuffer.\n\nAMAZON

EXTD=iewer: S. Barbieri "mom2 3princesses" (Pittsburgh, PA)\nThe Ventu
EXTD=res were one of the premiere surf bands of the sixties. They have
EXTD= influenced guitarists from Elliot Easton of the Cars to Lindsey
EXTD=Buckingham of Fleetwood Mac. This album proves not only to be gre
EXTD=at listening music but fun to dance to as well. The lead-ins to e
EXTD=very song will be familiar to classic pop music fans but what the
EXTD=y do with every song will amaze you. The reviewer's favorites bei
EXTD=ng 'Blue Christmas' (which rocks out and doesn't sound blue at al

EXTD=12, 1999\nReviewer: A music fan\nI have my original copy of the v
EXTD=inyl LP (my version is in mono, not stereo) and I am glad to see
EXTD=it has now been issued on CD (and in stereo--WOW! ). The Ventures
EXTD= start most every song with a riff from a popular 60's song befor
EXTD=e seguing into the Christmas tune. I didn't know this when I orig
EXTD=inally bought the album, so it came as quite a shock to hear "Wal
EXTD=k Don't Run" segue into "Sleigh Ride". But it's all pretty cool a
EXTD=nd it brings a smile to the face of everyone I've every played my
EXTD= worn LP for.\nI've always wanted these songs in stereo, but the
EXTD=stereo LP is hard to find and pricey, and you have to deal with t
EXTD=hose annoying pops and scratches. Look for this great album in st
