Compatibility: DR8.2

Notes:

Why that stupid name?
---------------------

Because. 8o)

What's that?
------------

This is an early preview of a 3d objects viewer

Cool, what 3d objects?
----------------------

3d2, 3ds, dxf, obj, nff, off, gr (dirty home made format)

How does it work?
-----------------

Guess what?
Run the application and drop 3d files on it.
That simple!

Use the keypad to change view:

4 & 6: rotate Y (or V)
2 & 8: rotate X (or U)
1 & 7: rotate Z (or N)
3 & 9: Zoom in/out

Installation
------------

Well, this is a standard .tar.gz file. You can:

- use Xplode browser add-ons (see on ftp.be.com)
- use a terminal: type
	gunzip Coz-dr8.tar.gz
	tar xpvf Coz-dr8 Coz-dr8.tar

You get a Coz-dr8 directory with a binary called Coz-dr8 and
a few object files. If you've already downloaded 3dMo-dr8, you
may recognize the head2 and triso objects. The objects with the
3dMo-dr8 application can be viewed with Coz-dr8 (this is the
famous "gr" format)

Enjoy!

More objects
------------

You want more objects? Well, sites providing such a stuff are
numerous on the Internet. Anyway, here are some interesting
sites for free models:

http://www.3dsite.com/
http://www.dcs.ed.ac.uk/~mxr/objects.html
http://156.46.199.2:80/3dcafe/meshes.htm
http://cedar.cic.net/~rtilmann/mm/obcatdx.htm
http://members.aol.com/mjx1936140/3dpage/3dpage.html
http://www.3dlinks.com/

There are, of course, a lot of other sites. If you know *free* and
*good* ones not stated in the previous list, just email me.

From some of theses sites, you may reach the Star Wars modeling
alliance the two 3ds objects were taken from.

What's next ?
-------------

Well, as you'll probably can see, there's still a lot of work.
You can actually only look at the dots objects. Once the clipper
is over, it will be much better...

- the parsers are not fast enough (just try a 1Mb dxf or obj file!!!)
I know how I can speed it up, but I'm a bit lazy... &(

- may be support some other formats (if you have any idea...)

- include objects shading (Bouknight, Gouraud, Phong), then mapping

Bugs
----

First, it can't be. Bugs are always due to the BeOS bugs ;)
However, if it happened that a bug continuously occur with a given
file, the you can help me: drop me a mail with the input file
location

Second, some file format parsers look like... Hem... mess.
That's it. Mess. Thus, some files are parsed, but no object
is given in output (it happened for 1 dxf file): this is due to
the lack of information on that format (a lot of fields are skipped)

Help me
-------

This application is helloware: if you enjoy it (well, it can't be
that much for the moment), send me a hello.

If you're up in 3d territory, don't hesitate to contact me, so that
we can exchange some ideas on 3D & BeOS.

I need friends... ;)

From the same author
--------------------

* 3dMo-dr8: a 3d demo. I think it's worth downloading it...
Please do!!! 8)

* Viou-dr8: a bitmap processing application used for a project.
Includes a DSP/PowerPC comparison. Interesting.
